研究内容・研究課題

I am researching the history of Ancient Egyptian including Coptic. In particular, my central research topics are the reconstruction of the vowel system and linguistic changes such as grammaticalization. In doing so, I often construct corpora of Ancient Egyptian and Coptic, analyze them using natural language processing tools, and consider them from a linguistic typological perspective.

I supervise a variety of students, including those specializing in Egyptology and Coptology, which broadly deals with literature and language of Ancient and Coptic Egypt; those specializing in historical linguistics and linguistic typology regardless of the target language; and those analyzing corpora using natural language processing techniques.
